Multiple Stages Filtration Process

Pre-filter: The workload shield

Catches the bulk of larger particles so the main filter does not clog prematurely. Low cost and quick to change — keep spares on site and swap as soon as resistance rises.

Main filter: High-efficiency capture

High-efficiency element (often HEPA H13/H14 where fine or hazardous dusts are present) for respirable fractions. It relies on an intact seal — a damaged gasket can cause bypass even when the filter media is sound.

Post-filter or polishing stage

Captures any remaining fine particulate and protects the motor or downstream ducting. Optional odour or chemical stages (such as activated carbon) are task-dependent and add resistance.

A: Tangential flow filtration (TFF) is a method in which the feed flows along the membrane surface, generating tangential shear to reduce membrane fouling and clogging. TFF is commonly applied as ultrafiltration (1–1000 kDa) or microfiltration (0.1–0.65 µm).

Q: How to choose the appropriate ultrafiltration membranes?

A: For most ultrafiltration and dialysis applications, both PES and RC membranes are suitable choices.
PES membranes can meet a wide range of application needs for most protein and small-molecule products, such as antibodies, APIs, and vaccines.

Q: Can TFF cassettes be reused?

A: Yes. TFF cassettes can be reused by selecting appropriate cleaning methods. However, due to changes such as declining membrane flux and increased permeation, the cassettes should be replaced periodically as needed.
