Introduction to Hollow Fiber Components
Jan 01, 2026| Hollow fiber modules are core components widely used in separation, filtration, and concentration. Their core structure consists of numerous hollow fiber membranes. These membranes have elongated tubular structures with separation layers formed on their inner or outer walls, enabling the separation of substances through mechanisms such as sieving, adsorption, or dissolution-diffusion.
Their working principle is based on pressure-driven or concentration gradient-driven processes. When fluid flows through the hollow fibers, small molecules (such as water and ions) can permeate through the membrane walls, while large molecules (such as proteins and colloids) are retained, thus achieving separation or purification.
