Preparation method of hollow fiber membrane module

Jan 05, 2026|

The fabrication of hollow fiber membrane modules mainly involves key processes such as membrane fiber encapsulation and module sealing. The encapsulation process involves bundling the hollow fiber membrane fibers and fixing both ends to the module housing using epoxy or polyurethane adhesives to form a tube sheet. This keeps the fiber cavities open and prevents the feed solution from mixing with the permeate. For module sealing, especially the connection between the head and the main housing, techniques such as ultrasonic welding can be used, with welding performed around the circumference at at least two locations to ensure liquid tightness and sufficient bonding strength at the joint.

To optimize the fabrication process, an improved method has been proposed. By optimizing the opening position on the central tube and using a vertical placement method with centrifugal force to inject the encapsulating adhesive, the amount of encapsulating adhesive used and its climbing effect can be reduced, thus lowering the risk of membrane fiber breakage during encapsulation.
