Hollow Fiber Module Technical Characteristics
Dec 01, 2025| From a technical perspective, hollow fiber modules offer significant advantages. Firstly, their high packing density allows for the integration of tens of thousands to millions of fibers per unit volume, significantly increasing the membrane area to volume ratio and resulting in compact equipment with a small footprint. Secondly, the membrane fibers are independently supported, eliminating the need for an additional skeleton, thus reducing material costs and fluid resistance.
Furthermore, hollow fiber modules have a wide operating pressure range (typically 0.1-0.6 MPa), adaptable to both full-flow filtration (dead-end filtration) and cross-flow filtration (tangential flow filtration). The former is suitable for liquids with low suspended solids content, while the latter uses high-speed fluid to flush the membrane surface, reducing fouling and extending service life.
